End of Fall / Official End of Fall

Today is officially the first day of winter. Does that also mean yesterday was the last day of fall? Didn’t fall end more than a month ago? I considered this early November outing to be my goodbye to fall this year.

The first park I went to that day was pretty bleak. Almost all the leaves were already down.

So I moved on to another nearby park. I wandered and took in the end of the season: the trees turned colors or bare, the dry prairie, the late afternoon light. I parted with the day and the season. My last fall shoot of the year is almost a ritual. Hopefully, finishing my editing and blogging it will help me prepare for the end of 2021. In a way it feels like 2020 and 2021 were one big long very weird year. In another way, it feels like 2021 is ending before it even got going. Whatever the feeling at the moment, it’s time to reflect and part ways with 2021.

Hopefully, I’ll still get a Christmas post in this year. What I have planned would be more appropriate for solstice. I’ve been to some outdoor light shows at parks in my area.

Top Ten From 2015

Here are my ten favorite shots from 2015. I had some good trips last year, but other life events cut into my photography time, so it was not my best year. I’m looking forward to devoting more time to photography in 2016. Happy New Year everyone! May 2016 be a year of growth and understand.

2013 In Review

There are only two days left in 2013, but before we rush into the new year, I’m taking a moment to look back at what happened in the last twelve months. 2013 was a fairly stable year for me. In fact, it was probably the most stable year I’ve had in four years or more. A little boring, but stability is good in many ways. When it comes to photography and video, my two biggest accomplishments  are reshooting all my commercial photography class projects, especially the pour shot (https://mycameramyfriend.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/the-end-of-the-big-project-pour-shot/), and developing my After Effects skills (https://www.youtube.com/user/gelsn740/videos).  Since I’m not completely happy with my black-on-black project, I’ll probably do more black-on-black next year. I also hope to further develop my YouTube channel. Unfortunately, 2014 will probably see more archive posts. I have some non-blog plans that may prohibit shooting and blogging for a few weeks in the spring or summer. Below are some of my photo highlights from 2013.
